Favorite Kaiju or Godzilla Movie

So I’m pretty sure everyone has seen at least one Kaiju movie, my favorite Kaiju movies are Godzilla King of the Monsters, and Rodan. When I lived in Japan you could normal find a Kaiju movie on TV and at least one Movie Theatre had a Kaiju Movie playing. If you ever have a chance to visit Tokyo go to the Shinjuka Ward at the Toho HQ is a life size Godzilla and inside the entrance to the Toho HQ is a small museum with movie posters , models of Kaiju monster’s.

Actually, I never watched any of the Kaiju movies, not the old ones, nor the new ones. Which should I watch first?

I like Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla (1998)…

I would start with the original 1954 Toho Studio’s Black and White Godzilla, and then after that start watching them in the order they came out.

I agree with @Moxie about the order just skip Godzilla 1998 with Matthew broederick that wasn’t Godzilla

I saw Mothra in 1963 at a theater in Beppu, a city in Kyushu. First Kaiju movie I ever saw. The bit where he put hiscacoon on the Tokyo Tower has still got to be my favorite.

I am familiar with some of the lore behind Kaiju films but I have not seen the classic movies. If I were to choose a favorite I would go with Pacific Rim. Love the story, the music and the scale of the film, all shots are framed so you can really see how huge the Jagers are. Can you imagine an Ultraman film in that style?

strangely I feel the only movie I’ve ever watched was Pacific Rim… I didn’t watch the entire movie… but let’s go with this one until I watch/remember others lol

Gamera was real!

10 million years ago, turtles could eat you with a single bite. The world’s largest turtle that roamed South America 10 million years ago - the Stupendemys Geographicus
Stupendemys is an extinct genus of freshwater side-necked turtle, belonging to the family Podocnemididae. It is the largest freshwater turtle known to have existed, with a carapace over 2 meters long. Its fossils have been found in northern South America, in rocks dating from the Middle Miocene to the very start of the Pliocene, about 13 to 5 million years ago. Male specimens are known to have possessed bony horns growing from the front edges of the shell and the discovery of the fossil of a young adult shows that the carapace of these turtles flattens with age. A fossil skull described in 2021 indicates that Stupendemys was a generalist feeder.
