I’m a long time player of FFXIV. I’ve played since 2013 when ARR was the only part of the game. Back then, Ninja wasn’t out yet and Small Homes were the same size as apartments.
That being said, I’m what I call an alt-a-holic. I have all together 43 characters. Of them, 1 is fully maxed out on all jobs and crafters as well as done with all current MSQ. 7 more are through all MSQ. I have 2 more I’m planning on having through MSQ before Dawntrial drops. The others are in random different places.
Back when I started making alts, there was no New Game +. So alt making was the only way to replay through story. Plus New Game + gives no rewards, so it’s funner for me to do it on a new character. That and I spend almost all my free time in FFXIV when I’m not working or sleeping.
I played for a long long time back when Coil was the first raid still mad we were 4 seconds off of server first but its whatever lol I want to go back maybe depends on what is going on around that time I main Gunbreaker for tanking, Ninja for melee dps, Red mage for caster dps, Sage for healer, sometimes a Machinist when I am feeling somewhat lazy lol
Fair enough. I mostly main dps. Red Mage for casting, Dancer or Bard for aiming, and Ninja or Reaper for melee. For tanking I usually like my Paladin. And then White Mage for Healing.
For Dawntrail it will be interesting. My pocket tank is switching from Gunbreaker to Viper for at release. I’ll be going Pictomancer to see how it feels while my partner levels Viper.
I used to, but haven’t touched it in over a year.
I’m not a big gamer these days, though I used to be huge into gaming. Unfortunately turn based RPG’s were never my thing, though I have played a few. I was never into Final Fantasy even though I had been gaming throughout the 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s, 2010’s to present and owned every major console and have a gaming PC, though in the last few years I kind of fell out of gaming hardcore and only occasionally play something. Never thought I would say I fell out of gaming, but here we are. Gaming just evolved into something I’m not big into, with microtransactions, constant online play, so much complex then it used to be gameplay wise, etc. I still occasionally play an older title and prefer the single player experience, though like I said turn based RPG’s are no my go to and appeal to me very little. I always preferred metroidvania, creative games like Minecraft, platformers 2D, 3D,and collect-a-tons, and for competitive play I was always loved fighting games, both traditional fighters (MK, SF, DBZ etc) and technical fighters (think Tekken). A also loved rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band and I’m a huge music nerd!
Unfortunately no. I don’t count 11/14 as part of the series personally. It’s because I don’t MMO and play FF because of the amazing storylines
@Zoysite13
Fair enough. Actually FFXIV isn’t turned base. It’s combats are like other MMORPGs like World of Warcraft, Blade and Soul, Black Desert Online, Tera, and etc.
The only mirco transactions in FFXIV is on the Online Store. There are story and level skips, but it’s mostly for special dyes, glamour outfits, emotes, or mounts.
@guyaton True. IT doesn’t play like any of the others. For me, FFXIV is the only one I’ve played. IT does have a lot of references to the others.
I’ve been playing FFIV since 2/4 (US/Japan). But s long as you’re enjoying it
I’ve only play one FF game pretty sure you’ve heard of the remaster of “FFX | X2” on the Nintendo Switch. I haven’t beaten it yet since it’s one of the longest game that I have ever played. Last time I check I was on Chapter 12 in the game.
I got so curious as to why FF is so popular so I wanted to play one. I love that game, it’s so thrilling.
I loved FFX (I played on the PS2 back in the day). I never could get into FFX-2. I think I started it 2-3 times.
My personal favorites are: 6,7,8 (the combat was only okay but the story line was 10/10), 10, 13 (storyline was a bit too complicated and confusing but the combat felt great), and 15 was pretty good (they tried to do open world with a linear storyline but missed the mark a bit).
I’m presently working on 15. Maybe 5-10 hours in.
Oops I meant I’m present working on playing FF16
I currently am somewhat active on zalera, my miqo ninja being my main play. If you want to hit her up at some point, feel free to lemme know!
Ive played until near the end of shadowbringers. Was super fun and ive been planning to go back but I’ve never gotten around to it
Ff14 can be played 99.9 percent of the story as single player with npcs now. Incredible story one worth checking out.
Welcome to the forum, @Chode66
Does it still feel MMO-like? I’ve tried a ton but they’re just so boring to me. Also I’m presently playing FF16 with Stellar Blade next
Was never into the FF series, just can’t get into most jrpg’s not big on MMO’s or turn based combat. Oh well.
Anyways welcome to the community forum @Chode66
Welcome to the community.
I’m a huge FFXIV nerd. Waitin for DT to drop so I can see my precious bnnuy in HD. (Not my WoL) I’ve been playing since 2014, but I did play in the beta for a short while. I joined for the cat boys, stayed for the story.
I’m an altaholic too!!! I have 40 characters on the NA data centers and then a few more scattered across the other regions. I only have 3 through the entirety of story, but most of them at in EW some where. 1 is an Omnicrafter, my Main. I have a few with leveled crafters and gatherers just not max yet.
Do you RP at all? I know a lot of the alt-aholics I know are all RPers.
I’m a bard main for story but then i mostly stick to healing. I have almost all my classes to 90 on my main (I’m struggling with the melees help me omg) I’m foaming at the mouth for pictomancer and the graphical updates. I just wanna kiss my WoL on the cheek and tell her she’s perfect.
