This could have gone in the food thread, or the Japanese snacks thread, but I put it here because Iā€™m giving sushi rolls another shot. Been 20 years (maybe 30?) since I last tried them. Took a shot at making my own ramen bowl with the veggies @Hestia25 turned us on to. Not enough broth, but thatā€™s my own stupid fault for not taking into account the noodles absorbing the liquid. The sushi is from the oriental section of the local grocery store.

Thank you for showing us those dried veggies! They totally made it. I will even spruce up my cheapie ramen with them.

Awwww you welcome :hugs:
What did you think about the taste? I read some reviews and some ppl thought it had a very fishy taste. Personally, I think they are great and the bag is fill to the brim :face_with_hand_over_mouth:,

Looks great! And tasty indeed

I got the plain ones with no shrimp, so no fishy taste. I make chicken and beef ramen bowls normally.

I also grabbed this from the Asian section of my local grocery store to sprinkle on top. Pretty tasty.

Have not looked online to see if itā€™s available everywhere.

I didnā€™t even put down all that went into it. Sliced chicken, chicken broth instead of water (thatā€™s what the noodles cooked in, too), a huge tablespoon of the veggies @Hestia25 turned us onto, fresh garlic, the egg was fried in sesame oil, and I didnā€™t like the look of my storeā€™s green onions, so thatā€™s actually a small bulb onion sliced up on top. Then sprinkled that topping over all of it. EDIT: I forgot, I also added shitake mushrooms to it.

The dipping sauce for the sushi was this:

Now Iā€™m hungry again. Gonna go feed the dogs and then try a beef ramen bowl and eat the rest of the sushi. That pic was half of what came in my container.

It was hard to find one I could eat. They Tex-Mexed the hell out of them. Most had chipotle or habanero peppers in them. SPICY! SPICY! SPICY!

As much as my mouth likes the heat, my stomach says, ā€œYouā€™re old. Try it and suffer for the next 12 hours, Fat Boy.ā€

You feel basic? Hell the only thing Iā€™ve ever added to ramen was Chicken or beef, thatā€™s it! And if I eat ramen its usually the cheap ā€œTop Ramenā€ or ā€œMaruchanā€ kind. I have not skills when it comes to cooking asian cuisine, even the basic stuff.

Donā€™t get me wrong, I can cook all kinds of stuff and I am a decent enough cook, I just suck at asian dishs. Besides, we donā€™t keep eggs in the house most the time as my roommate is deathly allergic to them, and im not a big fan of eggs anyway. The only time I buy eggs is when Iā€™m baking a cake or something. (funny enough when the eggs are in baked goods my roommate does not have a reaction)

I mean I use Maruchan and add alot to it lol it just varies on the day, Eggs are a staple around my place, I cook tons of meals that include eggs so I normally end up buying two full boxes just to make sure I have enough to make it through 2 weeks lol
