The cards are only banned in tournament play, with friends you can use whatever cards you want because if Konami made and produced them, they were legit for use at one time or another.

I am rewatching the original yugioh series. I have say that it feels so weird having to watch the series and not a whole lot happening compared to a duel in the modern day
