you are not incriminating yourself, half the time the officer doesn’t know how fast you was going either and only knows you was going fast, and if he doesn’t know as well they will usually let you off with a verbal warning to slow it down as it’s easier to do.

saying, quote: I “believe” I was… implies you thought you was going the speed limit, implies reasonable deniability as The officer can’t say you were lying, as you technically was not lying.

finally if the officer ever asks to search your car, always calmly state “no” or “I do not consent to a search” even if you have nothing to hide, an officer can’t legally search your car without reasonable doubt as to why or without a warrant to do so. And if they do, they are opening themselves to being liable for a lawsuit, and no one wants to go though that hassle.
Always comply with reasonable requests while never incriminating yourself. stay calm and be polite. The officer is a human as well doesn’t wanna be in that position just as much as you do.
