Thinking about getting an Anime Pillow

Can a fellow Otaku post some legit Anime Pillow sites? I already know Anime Dakamuri, I’m just trying to see my choices. Also I just need a medium one with very comfortable case. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

2 things you need to know before getting a Dakimakura. First is the size, you say you want a medium sized pillow so I would recommend the standard 150x50 or 160x50 cm dakimakura pillows. These two sizes are the standard sizes for authentic daki covers in Japan so your chances of finding the character you want is much higher with these sizes. Secondly is your material choice. You say you want something soft, well the best material choice I can recommend is the Two-Way Tricot. This is the base Tricot material but upgraded and is WAYYY more comfy. It is by far the most comfy material, lasts a lifetime (if taken care of properly), and is very resiliant within cleaning. I’ve had two way tricot akeno covers since 2017 and they still look brand new with the Two-Way Tricot material.

Next thing is the actual daki pillow itself (not the cover). Usually there’s two types of pillows but each shop may have a slight modification to the pillow they sell with the cover. The best bet here is to just look around either on Amazon or purchase a pillow when purhcasing the daki cover from the website of your choice. Usually on Amazon there’s two material types, these being more cotton filled (cheaper) and the plush filled (more expensive). The plush filled pillows are much more durable, heavier, softer, and are much more machine washable (or sanitize in a dryer). In my opninion, most trusted daki websites offer good quality pillows when purchasing the cover. Just make sure to purchase the proper size for both pillow and cover (meaning they MATCH).

Ahh boy websties, this is controversial but here’s the honest truth behind it. Some genuine daki websites may not have the character that you want, that’s the hard truth. Explore each website individually and look into the selection they have for your selected character of choice. A quick google search of “Dakimakura cover shop”, or "Anime Dakimakura covers will work. Click through each website (usually within a seperate tab so Google doesn’t mess up your search), and navigate the selections via the search bar up top. It doesn’t take that long and you can save the websites you like. Just know that any website you purchase from the shipping time will usually be around 2 - 3 weeks, depending if you’re in the States.

Personally I have a few websites that I have used in the past.

  1. https://animedakimakurapillow.com
  2. https://www.animepillowshop.com/
  3. https://www.dakimakurastore.com/
  4. https://cuddlyoctopus.com/
  5. https://www.dakimakura.us/ (This site has different extensions for the domain. You might just see dakimakura. de, or other extensions based on the country. Have been Iffy as of lately with the updates to the site so use the other websites first and use this as a last resort if no other sites have the character you want.)
  6. https://shop.mitgard.com/
  7. https://maltytown.com/ (Been using this one lately, more unique covers but not very large selection)

In regards to bootlegs, yes they are an issue but are mainly on sites like AliExpress. And yes you CAN custom commission a dakimakura cover. You can do this for either one side or both, but they can be very expensive and is a multistep process.

For TLDR people out there, here’s a quick summary. Get 150x50 or 160x50 for medium sized pillows like you mentioned. Make sure the pillow and case match in size. For the best quality get the Two-Way Tricot in the selection menu when purchasing your cover, peach skin is default and is okay in comfort but Two-Way is the WAY to go. Unfortunately the prices have been slowly rising over the years and it may be a bit more expensive now. AND I CANT BEAR THIS ENOUGH, wash the damn daki covers on delicate settings in your washer. You treat them with care and they will last a lifetime

PLEASE don’t be a degenerate like me and get the breast and buttocks addons. They cost triple the amount and would require another damn essay to talk about.

A huge cult made this big document going into complete details in regards to Daki’s. Me personally, I like the sites I use and it is completely different in the US as opposed to being in Japan. Real artists who take daki designs seriously keep their stock up for a limited time and are usually inaccessible to US customers even with the use of proxies. I know it sounds a bit crazy but if you love the character, 99% of the time even if it is a high end bootleg there’s barely going to be a difference in design. A slight difference in the eyes is usually it. The sites in the Doc take you to artist commissions and their works, but they usually go off certain characters and close purchases quickly in Japan.

One thing to take away is if you find a character you like on the sites above, I can gaurantee you that they will be great quality and will last a long time.

I also forgot to show you the differences in material choice @AnimeChick3133

well to be honest mine isn’t the official figure, that one is to expensive. This one is a Garage Kit replica of it. That’s good enough for me.
