It might be from wwII…when they took All the metal and used them for munitions so it was probably a tin toy like a A tinker toy that’s what they used to call them when they were made out of aluminum and tin so they could have used it for the military and then , They still had the Mold So they used plastic of some sort… That would be my best guess…
