Life Outside Anime/Manga/Games

I’m curious to what peoples like outside anime/manga/games is like. Partly inspired by my family and my own life. Like my mom is a coder for banking software. She debugs the software. But outside it she also plays roller derby.

Myself. Outside anime and games, I work as a Direct Care Staff Level One Med Aide. I also have my CNA and CMT trainings.
And for my partner. They work stocking shelves at a store all night.

Hiii, I’m a USPS clerk( the one in control of the pobox rentals). I woke up at 4am since I enter at 5:30am and I get out at 2pm. When I’m not doing anything anime/gaming I’m mostly cooking or with my kids.

Yea. Working as a CNA was not nice to my hips. Working as a Direct Care Staff Level One Med Aide- DSP L1MA- is actually the same job, just slightly different setting. I do the expect same work, just no doing it in a nursing home with less clients/individuals.

Outside of “Nerd-Town” I am a 22 year old figuring out what to do with my life.
Currently I have zero interest in literally anything that life can offer so I’ve been here at home “winging” it day by day.
I don’t know how to move forward as I am lost.

I’ve been exposing myself to what’s out their in the world for me to do but so far I’ve got nothing.

I’m facilities maintenance in 2 of our downtown skyscrapers. I’m also a photographer and a published author.

For hobbies, I print & paint miniature figures (D&D, WH40K, Mechwarrier, Ecchi) and play D&D.

Bought myself a drawing pad and I’m teaching myself how to draw anime. Might take a stab at writing my own online manga when I stop sucking.

I’m a Casino Slot Attendant and a Tribal Casino, trust me outside of dealing with Casino Guests and office politics, it’s the easiest job in the world in my personal opinion. Though there are times when the hustle and bustle gets overwhelming, My main job consists of guest service, fixing slot machine malfunctions, helping with the install and exit of gaming machines, Processing the paperwork of jackpots for guests and paying out said jackpots, helping keep the casino tidy and assisting with printing and signing up guests in our players club. I work the day shift and work a large part of the shift by myself with one security guard at a small gasino (gas station with a casino attached) then move up the nearby larger main casino to finish the last few hours of my shift with everyone else. Due to being mostly by myself and the gasino being much slower then the main one I have lots of down time as such, I do 90% of my real work in the last few hours of work. But don’t let that fool you I’ve only been working the gasino part since 2020, as I requested it after having an very bad anxiety attack from working full time at the bigger one as management. After the lockdowns the casinos were extremely busy for about a year, while staffing was way way short, it was super stressful and overwhelming during that time period.

But don’t let that fool you as now my job is a walk in the park, especially after demoting out of management yet still making more then the managers as I get tips now. Tips consist of about 1/3rd of my paycheck (they get added to my paycheck and turned in every night so they are taxed properly, casino rules, too many audits in the past on people not claiming tips) But I make sure not to put myself in a position to rely on tips just in case. With 20 years of service under my belt, 15 of them on nightshift, I deserve an easy laid back position on day shift. When thousands of dollars slip thought your fingers every day eventually money just doesn’t feel like money anymore and just reminds you of work, you get used to seeing large sums of cash and think nothing of it. Like I said my job is much much easier now, and as long as I keep the place running smooth and clean and help guests when needed all is good.

Anyway enough talk about shop.

Outside of work I don’t do much as I’m in my mid 40’s and most my friends have married, have kids, etc. Plus having two days off in the middle of the week does not help my social life. So I mainly hang out my with room mate, whom I share days off with. I have a female room mate which people always confuse us as a couple which is annoying and kind of hinders the dating market. And no I do not see her that way and she feels the same. She moved in about a year after I got divorced (never getting married again, lesson learned the hard way), anyway she moved in a year after I got divorced as she needed help and was struggling finically. We had been friends for years and are more like brother/sister then anyway. So anyway we spend out free time together basically doing what ever, one thing we love to do is play card games, dice games, and trivia games on Youtube, while tossing back a few, or we go out to the local arcade for fun.

I love going out to either the local Arcade in my area, or to round1 in Wichita to play the arcade machines and bowl. I’m a ticket junkie and love winning prizes at the arcade, but usually give everything away later on.

I’m also a concert Junkie and always on the lookout for a live show nearby, as I’m a metalhead and love Live Music. I’ve been two two concerts this year already, have tickets for 2 more upcoming shows, and have 2 more different concerts on my radar. I went to 7 shows last year where I seen Alice Cooper, Pantera, Lamb of God, and Static X, just to name a few. I usually post photo’s here on the forum under the “Music is Life” thread.

That about sums up my life at the moment. Thanks for reading my TED talk.

Outside of anime/manga, I work at an AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) accredited facility. I work with wolves, coyotes, and foxes and I am a HUGE wolf advocate. My job pertains to giving educational tours to the public, animal care, grounds keeping, etc. I am always willing to talk to anybody about wolves and am always ready to debunk any myths about them. So, if anybody has any questions about wolves, please feel free to ask! ^.^

Aside from work, I am also starting to go to the gym more often with my husband and I love to get out of the house anytime I can!

The both of us are also big gamers. We play a bunch of different things. I also am obsessed with the Japanese culture and am trying to learn as much as possible! I am also trying to learn Japanese. While I don’t take an actual class (it’s more like me homeschooling myself by watching JapaneseAmmo on YouTube).

I’m also big into horror (games, movies, etc). I also draw and I love music! I’m an open book, so I’ll really answer any questions anyone has. X)

Do you wanna pursue college?

I already try college. 2020 was when I enroll into college then I left college in 2022.

I was on my way into graduating but I couldn’t see a future for myself even after graduating so I left. A degree can wait, figuring out how to spend my life is more stressful to figure out when I don’t know what I’m passionate about.

I’ve been at home for months trying to break out of this habit by attending job fairs, attending college fairs, attending workshops but for the life of me I can’t think of what to do next.

Sound like me at the moment brother. Don’t sweat college until you’re ready. It certainly is a good thing to have and the nice thing is most class credits obtained last for almost ten years. Job market at the moment is a bit difficult (at least for IT that is). I’ve applied for around 50 jobs so far and still no clicks, most of which I fit the requirementss. I know it sounds cliche but just do whatever you enjoy the most, well once you find it that is.

Try trade school. Costs less, hires easier, and right now trades pay better.

I don’t have wolves down here. Lots of 'yotes, though. Had a pack that liked hanging out by my car. Alpha female tried to break bad on me when I was approaching to get in my car. Told her (in my deep radio voice), “Yeah, bring it.” She backed down and the pack moved away so I could get in.

I normally have no problem with them as they keep the local feral cat population down. You do you, I’ll do me, and we’ll leave each other alone.

Had to tell off some of the local ranchers who wanted permission to come on my property to shoot them.

Nope. I’m good.

Coyotes being in packs like that is not super common. They’re normally by themselves or, if they do have a mate, they stay together to raise the pups. Then, when the pups are old enough, they leave and then the parents will split and then come back together for the next breeding season.

The only time they ever really form ‘packs’ is when it’s getting difficult for them to find food. What’s also interesting about them is that it would be better if people didn’t kill them. They practice something called ‘Compensatory Rebound’ which is where, if they have a lot of food and space and no other competition, they can have more babies on purpose. So, the more people kill coyotes, the more coyotes you get and the higher the survival rate for the pups.

Yeah, tell that to our local ranchers.

It was a small pack, just 4. And it could be because of the feral cats in my 'hood. Prime hunting grounds?

They will go after cats. They’re another misunderstood animal, but a lot of people are set in their ways and are not willing to listen to the science.
