My wife and I were having a discussion about 80s music and the topic of an ultimate 80s mix tape came up. I want to make a YouTube playlist. But I need help, I’d like to know what songs, bands, musicians do you think of when you think of the 1980s.
The only requirement is that the song had to debut/publish between 1980 and 1989.
No genre is off limits.

Are you looking for a particular genre or a mix? If so, you could mirror the tapes selections from GTA Vice City’s discography, those are top choice and well mixed. 
Nothing specific. I just want to know what comes to mind when you think of 80s music. Ultimately I’d like to have around 200-250 songs.

What about Darth Vader’s theme (called the Imperial March)? I’m pretty sure that one (Episode V) came out in 1980.

Aldo Nova great 1 hit wonder, love that song.
Definitely gotta go with Duran Duran, just about can’t miss with them.
Journey is another great choice.
