(When I was looking for images to show to my friends, I realized it has some kind of connection with another anime “Lemon Angel” and the Main characters seem to be named after >Adult Content< Actresses… it was a bit of a surprise )
@Antares I never heard of it until now, how is it?
For me it would have to be Neo Ranga, it’s a mecha anime about this big monster that arrives in Japan. The main characters are three sisters and they have a connection with this monster. It’s not really that good and it’s pretty silly (not in a good way).
@Keiffer , @AfroGato It’s like those old reality shows where the winners join a girl band. Basically just girls helping and/or fighting each other, and becoming friends xD.
And … I’ve never heard of Neo Ranga, I guess I’m a nobody too XD
Having main characters named of after Japanese Female Porn Stars isn’t unusual in Japan one reason is because the Stars normal do a few different type of photo shoots dressed as said character and many of them attend many of the various Japanese Conventions, when I went to Tokyo Anime a few years back there were 7 different Stars you could book an hour photo shoot with but it was expensive, Also, many of the girl J-Pop groups have member dress up in popular characters and attend Conventions.
I have this on DVD found it in a store in Osaka when I was visiting Japan in 2019,it’s a little hard to get into but I like mecha anime so I got it to ad to my collections. It’s two season long and it tends to get better towards the end of season one.
I’ve actually heard of that and seen it, not my favorite.
There is a ton of obscure anime out there, I even own a few. The reason lots of it is relitivly unheard of is because anime didn’t really take off and become mainstream in the west till around 2010. It’s been around but never anywhere near what it is after that year, as it suddenly became “cool” to “normies”, lol.
I’ve been an big time anime fan off and on since the 90’s and amassed a huge collection. Some rare ones I never hear anyone talke about that I enjoyed for what it was are these.
Blue seed (everyone remember Blue Gender (1999) but not Blue Seed (1996), which was about plant monsters)
Next is a strange anime called “Me, My, I, Strawberry Eggs” that came out in 2001 which was about an out of work male school teacher looking for a teaching job, and the only one available was at an all girl school, where they do not allow men. So He ends up crossdressing to get the job at that school. A few of the students start for fall for him…or his fake female persona… and well he makes sure bounderies are not crossed, at least thats how I remember it.
There are lots and lots of other anime out there that no one ever heard of to talks about, some for good reason, others were good but just never caught on for one reason or another.
I just found about this anime, it looks so good! It’s from 1991 and it looks like it has a very messed up story. I mention it here because I have not heard about this anime at all until now.
