I remember buying MyBoy GBA Emulator for my phone. Combining it with a gamepad with a phone holder like this gave my phone a new life as a game station.

I remember playing Real Racing 3 on mobile a lot, but this was the time before I got the controller. Maybe worth trying, because the response time is immediate, just as in consoles, as it works on Bluetooth the same way
